Honestly, I can’t even begin to explain how SICK of people I get sometimes.
So I was reading through This Thread at the Hangout and I can’t say I was surprised at the answers. The question being, “what plot makes you cringe?”
It seems that a good majority of people’s FIRST reaction was to say VAMPIRE STORIEZZZZ!~111111!!!!
And you know, I can’t write anything here without being hypocritical – for the most part, I avoid other vampire stories. I only read DP and TKOAV. I’ll get to that later. But it seems to me that these days, the new cliche is not vampire stories themselves, but being someone who calls vampire stories cliche.
What I’m trying to say is… WE FUCKING GET IT ALREADY. YOU DON’T WANT TO READ THEM. JUST DON’T THEN, AND SHUT THE HELL UP.
Jesus christ. Would it kill people to have a LITTLE respect for people who write in that genre?! It made us seem like a bunch of clingy romantic retards with nothing better to write.
It’s times like this, and people like that, who really make me ask myself: Why do I bother? Am I one of those who gets called “cliche” because that’s all I write? You bet sure as fucking hell I am. It makes me feel like shit when people say stuff like that. I can take any other form of hit on my self-esteem, anything else but my writing. It’s very unstable as it is, without people ruining it.
And the fact is, most people just stereotyped everyone into that. So does that make every single fucking vampire story shitty? It would seem so according to some people! What about amazing authors like Josette and Aikea who can take that and manifest it into something amazing? What about ANY author who can take ANY cliche and make it a good read? Because believe me, I know a few.
It really makes me wonder why people read sims stories if all they’re going to do is judge it before they even look at the first page. Honest to God.
Oh, and I was going to start Season 2 tonight. That has a snowball’s chance in hell now. My inspiration’s completely destructed. Oh, but don’t worry. It wasn’t fucking UnIqUe enough for half of you anyway. was it.
